What is Wavlake?

Wavlake is a platform for musicians and podcasters to publish and distribute their creative work on the open internet and receive bitcoin from anywhere for that work. When you publish a track on Wavlake, the audio is accessible from any application that can read open protocols such as Podcasting 2.0 (RSS) and Nostr. Every track you publish also is capable of receiving bitcoin micropayments via the Lightning Network. This means that your music or podcast is free to access from anywhere, but it’s also able to earn from anywhere.

Wavlake.com and our apps are a great way to get started as a fan or artist. You also can check out Podcasting 2.0 apps that are able to interact with all our content. Some of our favorites are Fountain and Podverse.

I’m an artist. How do I get started?

Create an account using one of our standard methods (Email, Google, or Twitter. Nostr is not yet supported for artist accounts). Navigate to Studio and hit “Upload”. We’ll walk you through the rest.

Have collaborators you want to share your earnings with? See how to set up Splits.

How much does it cost to use?

Wavlake charges a flat 10% fee on all earnings. This helps cover the cost of development, hosting, and payment management.

What are the rules?

Artists must own the rights to any content they upload. Artists retain all rights to their work. See our content guidelines for more details.

All music uploaded to Wavlake is royalty-free and we do not report to performing rights organizations like ASCAP or BMI. If you have entered into an agreement with a third party PRO, it is your obligation to inform, or report to them directly.
